It’s been over five years since I last walked through Fuzhou’s Three Lanes and Seven Alleys (Sanfang Qixiang) — one of China’s best-preserved historical neighborhoods.
Back then, it felt quiet and nostalgic. Now, it’s alive again — same old bluestone streets, but new shops, new faces, and countless new stories. 🌿🏮
📍 About Three Lanes and Seven Alleys
Once home to Qing Dynasty scholars and reformers, this district is now a blend of heritage, culture, and modern life. The famous heart-shaped tree has become an internet sensation — proof of how time and social media reshape tradition.
🏛️ Must-See Spots
• Lin Zexu Memorial Hall – expanded exhibits about his anti-opium efforts, still deeply inspiring.
• Shen Baozhen’s Residence – a hidden gem revealing Fuzhou’s reformist spirit.
🎭 Culture & Heritage
• Fujian Intangible Cultural Heritage Center – showcases wood carving, lacquerware, puppetry, and local cuisine.
• Fujian Folk Museum – designed around the 24 Solar Terms, a poetic fusion of nature, tradition, and architecture.
