Exploring Fuzhou through the eyes (and taste buds!) of locals — no tourist traps, just real flavors, late-night Dai Pai Dongs, and street-side seafood feasts. 🍲

🍻 Chongqing Dai Pai Dong

An unpretentious local eatery on Lianjian Road, packed with laughter, sizzling woks, and endless beer debates — apparently, Heineken’s new “Star Silver” bottle is smaller, weaker… and more expensive. 😂

🦐 Yufu Seafood Restaurant (Xiapu Style)

A cozy spot serving coastal Fujian seafood — tried stir-fried ginkgo nuts for the first time! Locals rave about the “Tusan Jelly,” and they’re not wrong.

🍛 Jufu Min & Sichuan Cuisine

Celebrating a friend’s birthday here — finally got to try sour ribs and oyster omelet, both surprisingly good! The marinated mud snails had a bitter-sweet aftertaste that really grew on me.

🍗 Tingxiaofu Hakka Cuisine

Home-style Fujian comfort food: ginger chicken, Hakka tofu, and strong Maotai on the side — classic local vibes.

🥣 Fuzhou Foodie Solo Tour

After the group meals, I wandered off to try some must-eat local favorites:

Tongli Rouyan Old Shop: the legendary meat dumplings (rouyan) and fish balls — crowded but worth it. Hongping Tea House: elegant tea-flavored ice cream and butter egg tarts. Shixian Min Cuisine: came just for the Litchi Pork — sweet, tangy, and absolutely worth it. Meiyabo Peanut Soup: still comforting but less sweet than before. Zhonghui Soy Duck & Noodles: duck with “laohua” noodles — simple but satisfying. Changle Bingbing Ice: local-style shaved ice — just ¥9 for a refreshing finish. 🍧

From traditional soups to seafood and nostalgic snacks, Fuzhou’s true flavors live in its small alleys and late-night eateries.
