After exploring Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, I wandered into Daming Night Market, one of Fuzhou’s most iconic food streets — a place filled with smoke, flavor, and memories.

It’s been five years since my last visit. To my surprise, the Taiwan snack section still exists, though the trends have changed — licorice guava seems to be the new favorite.

Tastes change, just like people do.

I bought a bottle of herbal jelly drink from the same small shop I used to visit years ago — the same bottle design, the same slogan, and almost the same flavor. It’s not a famous brand, but it carries the taste of my memories.

Most of the barbecue and milk tea stalls are still here, though the owners have changed. The stands stay, the people change — a perfect description of night market life.

As I walked, I came across a violinist playing alone under the neon lights. Eyes closed, lost in his music, he didn’t seem to care if anyone was listening. Amid the noise of the crowd, his melody felt like a quiet poem written for the night. 🎻
