我們常常約這邊吃飯、喝咖啡;

It’s been years since my friend sold his apartment in Xintiandi,

and honestly, I haven’t visited much since then.

Back in the day, we used to meet here all the time —

dinners, coffee breaks, or the occasional glass of wine with jazz music playing in the background. 🎷

By day, it felt like traditional Shanghai;

by night, it turned into modern chic —

just like Xintiandi itself,

a perfect blend of East and West.

A single street once divided two worlds —

one side old residential blocks,

the other, an international promenade.

Now, the area has expanded with stylish new phases,

but somehow, the old soul remains.

The familiar Starbucks on Madang Road is gone,

some restaurants changed their signs,

yet the Shikumen brick walls still stand,

and the laughter of tourists still fills the lanes.

As afternoon sunlight warms the red bricks,

I sit with a cup of coffee,

watching the world go by. ☕️

Maybe that’s what life is —

things change,

but the memories stay.
